ABOUT US

CAMP L.I.T. (Living In Truth) is a nonprofit organization providing gender-based (ages 12-15) & COED (ages 16-18) summer camps, mentorship programs & social events for foster, adopted and at-risk youth. We offer a safe place for these teens to enjoy being a child and for them to learn to grow as a person, leader and friend.

WHO WE ARE

Kim & Ginger Vass have created a team of individuals who work to empower others, help others attain their dream and MOST importantly show GOD'S LOVE!

WHAT WE DO

Our GOAL this summer is to host 72 campers, 24 per camp across 3 camps. At camp, we focus on showing these teens that they are WORTHY. We Provide A Fun, Safe & Inclusive Environment, Building Self-Esteem & Encouraging Growth. Our activities include archery, canoeing, art, swimming, paintball, singing, and a challenge course that is meant to help the campers push past boundaries they may be facing in their lives.

Driven By God's Love ❤️ The Vass's have been working with foster teens for over 15 years as foster parents, volunteering for foster teen camps, & mentoring. The couple helped start foster teen camps in Oklahoma and annually volunteered at foster teen camps in Kansas. Giving back to those in need is something Kim & Ginger felt driven to do. The couple has 2 sons (from foster care), 2 beautiful daughters-in-laws, and 5 amazing grandchildren. They have both seen firsthand how the foster care system has effected these children and they believe these camps are more than JUST a summer camp. Through these camp experiences, they have seen teens forever changed and have also observed the volunteers be changed FOREVER! Starting this camp was something they felt called to do & they feel blessed to have a team & community full of individuals ready to provide these kids with a life-changing summer experience!

🔥 Bart & Angela Anstaett 🔥

Leadership

Bart and Angela have over 15 years of experience with foster teens & the foster care system between adopting children out of foster care and volunteering at foster camps their LOVE runs deep for these kids. Every child along their journey has impacted them in ways they could have never imagined. They hope 🙏 if they have made a positive impact for just one kid along the way that the years of dedication have been worth it all! Through the process of their dedication, their main goal is to show every child what God's love looks like.

🔥 Megan Hibbard🔥

Leadership

Megan and her husband knew God had placed taking care of kiddos on their hearts. Using their resources, heart and Jesus to get them through anything they said YES to their calling. Which is why they have been foster and adoptive parents for multiple years. Megan has firsthand experience and insight on the challenges these kids are dealt. This lead her to seek out other opportunities to continue to use her big heart and knowledge by working with teens at camp. She has served 4 teen camps the past 3 years and says every year she takes away something new for each experience. “It’s a feeling you can’t imagine, until you’ve completed 4 days at camp.” After seeing and hearing the difference the camps make to these kids it wasn’t a hard decision for her to keep saying yes to volunteering and continue to help be a mentor to these teens.

🔥 Brian Stewart🔥

Leadership

Brian is from Colorado where he was a deacon of the youth of his church for over 18 years. Working with teens has always been a huge part of his life. Moving to Kansas with his wife Kimberley and finding Camp L.I.T was a perfect outlet to fill that passion. He has a beautiful blended family with 8 kids and 15 grandkids and enjoys every bit of the chorus that comes with that. It is his pleasure to serve these teens each summer and he prays the impact the camp makes is lifelong.

🔥 Karen Rundquist🔥

Leadership

Karen and her husband, Steve are parents to 3 grown daughters. Blessed with 3 great sons-in-laws and 9 very active grandchildren. Her dear friend, Angela, described the many tasks that needed to be done to make camp happen as support staff. Hearing her describe some of the tasks, things like eating meals with campers, playing games together, applying sunscreen and more. She decided she could help fill the spot. But, she never expected the blessings she would receive while being involved. These teens have had to make adult decisions on their own and maybe never got to experience a stable atmosphere.  It is a privilege of hers to be the “Grandma” figure for 4 days at camp. She has now volunteered as a support staff for 6 years being able to love on many at-risk teens, their coaches and the other support staff.
